Description
Apple Cinnamon Bites for Dogs are a homemade treat packed with healthy, dog-friendly ingredients like oats, applesauce, and cinnamon. These easy-to-make snacks are perfect for spoiling your pup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, omit for diabetic dogs)
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (unsalted and xylitol-free)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the rolled oats and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the applesauce, peanut butter, and honey (if using). Stir until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Roll the dough into bite-sized balls, appropriate for your dog’s size, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bites are firm and lightly golden.
- Allow the treats to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- If the dough is too wet, add a little more oats; if it’s too dry, add a splash of water or extra applesauce.
- Always check your peanut butter to ensure it is free of xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
- Remove apple seeds and core before using, as they are harmful to dogs.
