Description

A wholesome and dog-friendly recipe for Apple & Oatmeal Dog Cupcakes made with natural ingredients like applesauce, oat flour, and peanut butter frosting. Perfect for birthdays, holidays, or a special treat for your pup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (no added sugar)
  • 1/4 cup grated apple (peeled and cored)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth
  • Frosting (optional):
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 12 tablespoons peanut butter (xylitol-free)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with silicone liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the oat flour and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, applesauce, grated apple, and honey (if using).
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until fully incorporated. Add water or chicken broth if the batter is too thick.
  5. Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, mix Greek yogurt and peanut butter until smooth. Pipe or spread the frosting on the cooled cupcakes if desired.
  8. Serve to your dog in moderation and enjoy watching them indulge!

Notes

  • Store cupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze cupcakes for up to 1 month and thaw in the fridge before serving.
  • Always ensure peanut butter is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • Adjust the amount of frosting or skip it if your dog is sensitive to dairy.
