Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (optional, for extra moisture)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the banana until smooth. Add honey, egg, and applesauce (if using) and stir to combine.
- Stir in the whole wheat flour and rolled oats until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into shapes using a dog-bone or any fun-shaped cookie cutter.
- Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and firm.
- Cool completely before serving to your dog. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour or another dog-safe gluten-free flour.
- You can add a tablespoon of unsalted peanut butter for extra flavor.
- Store the biscuits at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
