Description
Banana & Pumpkin Chews for Dogs are soft, nutritious, and easy to make. These homemade treats are packed with fiber, vitamins, and natural sweetness, making them a perfect snack for dogs of all ages, especially those with sensitive stomachs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe banana (mashed)
- ½ cup canned pumpkin (pure, unsweetened – NOT pumpkin pie filling)
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional, but great for omega-3s)
- ¼ cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for a hint of flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the banana until smooth.
- Add the pumpkin, ground flaxseed, oat flour, and cinnamon (if using). Stir until well combined.
- Spoon the mixture onto the parchment paper and spread it out into a thin, even layer (about ¼-inch thick).
- Bake for 2-3 hours, checking periodically for a chewy, leathery texture.
- Once done, let the chews cool completely.
- Use a pizza cutter or kitchen scissors to cut them into bite-sized strips or squares.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze for longer shelf life.
Notes
- Use overripe bananas for natural sweetness and easier mashing.
- For extra crunch, bake longer or let them dehydrate in the oven.
- Adjust the thickness for a softer or crispier chew.
- Store in the fridge for freshness or freeze for extended shelf life.
- Add a spoonful of xylitol-free peanut butter for extra flavor.
