Description
Beef and Rice Medley for Dogs is a nutritious, homemade meal with protein-rich beef, rice, and veggies, perfect for a balanced diet.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup rice (brown rice preferred, but white rice is suitable for sensitive stomachs)
- 1/2 cup carrots, diced
- 1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 cups water or low-sodium beef broth
- Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
- In a pot, bring 2 cups of water or low-sodium beef broth to a boil and add the rice.
- Reduce the heat, cover, and let the rice simmer until fully cooked, about 15–20 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, stirring to break it up. Drain any excess fat.
- Add diced carrots and peas to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 5–7 minutes, or until carrots are slightly softened.
- Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
- Freeze portions in freezer-safe bags for up to three months.
- Adjust portion size based on your dog’s weight, age, and activity level.
- Avoid adding seasonings like salt or pepper, as these are unnecessary and could be harmful to dogs.
