- 1 cup carrots, diced

Instructions
- In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour in the 6 cups of low-sodium broth or water.
- Stir in the barley, diced carrots, celery, and green beans.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the barley is tender and the vegetables are soft. Stir occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the soup cool to a safe temperature before serving it to your dog.
