A nutritious homemade bone broth for dogs made with collagen-rich bones and dog-safe vegetables to support joints, digestion, and hydration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds beef marrow bones
- 4 chicken feet
- 1 medium carrot, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 8 cups filtered water
Instructions
- Place beef marrow bones and chicken feet into a large stockpot or slow cooker.
- Add chopped carrot, celery, parsley, and turmeric.
- Pour in apple cider vinegar and filtered water.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the vinegar to begin extracting minerals from the bones.
- Bring the pot to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer.
- Simmer for 12–24 hours, occasionally skimming foam from the surface.
- Remove bones and strain the broth through a fine mesh strainer.
- Allow the broth to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
- Never add onions, garlic, salt, or artificial flavoring to dog bone broth.
- Do not give cooked bones to dogs as they can splinter.
- Store broth in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Freeze broth in ice cube trays for convenient portioning for up to 3 months.
- Serve as a meal topper rather than a full meal replacement.
