Description
Carrot and pumpkin snack sticks for dogs are a healthy, homemade treat packed with vitamins and fiber, perfect for boosting your pup’s health.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup pumpkin puree (ensure it’s pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 2 cups oat flour
- 1 egg (optional for binding)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or water (for moisture)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, grated carrots, and egg (if using) until well combined.
- Gradually add the oat flour to the wet mixture, stirring continuously to create a firm but slightly sticky dough. Adjust with water or coconut oil as needed.
- Roll the dough into stick shapes of uniform thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and firm. For a crunchier texture, let them cool in the oven after turning off the heat.
- Allow the sticks to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For longer storage, freeze the sticks for up to three months.
- You can substitute carrots with dog-safe veggies like sweet potatoes or zucchini.
- To add more flavor, incorporate dog-friendly peanut butter.
