Description

Carrot & Apple Mini Bone Treats for Dogs are simple, healthy, and delicious snacks packed with natural ingredients like carrots and apples. Perfect for training or a special treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium-sized carrot, finely grated (about ½ cup)
  • 1 small apple, peeled, cored, and finely grated (about ½ cup)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (if needed, to adjust dough consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Peel and grate the carrot and apple finely.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg and applesauce together. Add honey and cinnamon if using.
  4. Stir in the grated carrot and apple, mixing well.
  5. Gradually fold in the flour until a soft dough forms. Add water if the dough is too dry.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness.
  7. Cut into shapes using a mini bone cookie cutter or other shapes.
  8. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and firm.
  9. Let the treats cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For gluten-free treats, use oat flour instead of whole wheat flour.
  • Adjust baking time for chewier or crunchier treats as needed.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for a week, refrigerate for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to three months.
  • Always remove apple seeds before using, as they are toxic to dogs.
