Description
This Peanut Butter and Yogurt Glazed Dog Biscuits recipe is a simple, healthy, and delicious way to treat your furry friend at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsalted, xylitol-free)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 cup plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1-2 tsp water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, peanut butter, applesauce, and egg. Stir until the mixture forms a cohesive dough.
- Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out biscuit shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are firm and golden brown. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
- To make the glaze, whisk together the Greek yogurt and cornstarch until smooth. Add water as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
- Spread the yogurt glaze over the cooled biscuits using a spoon or dip them directly into the glaze.
- Let the glaze set on the biscuits by refrigerating them for 15-20 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the peanut butter is free from xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
- Store glazed biscuits in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
- If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a bit more flour or chill it before rolling.
- Customize the biscuits with different shapes or flavors like pumpkin or banana.
