  • Author: mydogrecipe
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 1 pizza (approximately 8 slices) 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

Peanut Butter & Apple Dog Pizza is a healthy, easy-to-make treat packed with dog-safe ingredients like homemade peanut butter, apples, and a dog-friendly crust. Your furry friend will love this nutritious snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour (or substitute with oat flour for allergies)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of homemade peanut butter
  • 1 medium-sized apple, chopped (seeds and core removed)
  • Optional: shredded carrots, spinach leaves, or parsley for extra toppings

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, egg, unsweetened applesauce, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water, one tablespoon at a time.
  3. Dust a work surface lightly with flour and roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness. Shape it into a pizza circle or use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
  4. Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Pre-bake the crust for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. While the crust is baking, prepare the peanut butter spread.
  6. Remove the crust from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spread 2 tablespoons of homemade peanut butter evenly across the crust.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped apple pieces and any additional optional toppings like shredded carrots or spinach.
  8. Place the pizza back in the oven and bake for another 8-10 minutes, until the peanut butter is warm and the apples are slightly softened.
  9. Allow the pizza to cool completely before slicing and serving it to your dog.

Notes

  • Ensure peanut butter used is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour for dogs with allergies.
  • Apples should be cored and seeds removed to prevent any potential harm.
  • Pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for later use.
