  • Author: mydogrecipe
  • Total Time: 1-2 hours (including chilling time)
  • Yield: 16-20 bite-sized squares 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Bars for Dogs are a healthy, homemade treat made with simple ingredients that support digestion and provide essential nutrients. Perfect for spoiling your dog with a nutritious snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of pure pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1 1/2 cups of oats (ground for a smoother texture, or leave whole for more chewiness)
  • Optional: A pinch of cinnamon (check with your vet if your dog is sensitive)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey for extra sweetness

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients. If using whole oats, grind them into a powder using a food processor or blender for a smoother texture.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and peanut butter. Stir until smooth and well-mixed.
  3. Gradually add the ground oats to the pumpkin-peanut butter mixture, stirring until you achieve a dough-like consistency. Add more oats if too sticky or a splash of water if too dry.
  4. Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper. Spread the mixture evenly in the dish, pressing down firmly to compact it.
  5. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours (or freeze for 30-45 minutes) until firm.
  6. Remove from the dish and cut into bite-sized squares.
  7. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer for up to three months.

Notes

  • Choose xylitol-free peanut butter as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • Store bars in the refrigerator for up to one week, or in the freezer for up to three months.
  • Frozen bars can be a great refreshing treat on hot days; just let them thaw for a few minutes before serving.
  • If the mixture is too sticky, add extra oats until it firms up.
  • You can add blueberries or coconut oil for extra nutrients and flavor.
