  • Author: mydogrecipe
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 mini tarts 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

Pumpkin & Apple Dog Tarts are a nutritious fall treat for dogs, made with pumpkin, apple, and oat flour. These treats provide fiber and vitamins in a tasty, dog-friendly tart your pup will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup diced apple (peeled and chopped into small cubes)
  • 1 cup oat flour (plus more if needed for dough consistency)
  • 1 egg (for binding)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the oat flour and egg, stirring until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more oat flour until it reaches a workable consistency.
  2. Press small portions of the dough into mini muffin tins to form tart shells.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pre-bake the tart shells for about 10 minutes until they start to firm up slightly, then remove from oven.
  4. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the pumpkin puree, diced apple, and cinnamon (if using). Cook for about 5 minutes, until the apples start to soften.
  5. Spoon the pumpkin-apple filling into each tart shell. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the filling is set and the shells are golden.
  6. Allow the tarts to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

  • Store the tarts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Be sure to use unsweetened pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • If your dog has never had cinnamon before, you may skip it, as it is optional and meant for added flavor.
