Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional)
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots (optional)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, pumpkin puree, rolled oats, flaxseed, shredded carrots, turmeric, egg, and melted coconut oil.
- Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Form small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) with your hands or a cookie scoop and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until firm and golden brown.
- Let the bites cool completely before serving them to your dog.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
Notes
- Make sure to use plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling).
- If your dog has allergies or dietary restrictions, you can substitute ingredients as needed (e.g., turkey instead of chicken).
- These treats freeze well—perfect for making larger batches!
- If the mixture feels too crumbly, you can add a bit more pumpkin puree to get the right consistency.
