Description

Salmon & Sweet Potato Meatloaf for Dogs is a nutritious homemade meal, perfect for boosting your dog’s health and making mealtime enjoyable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (16 oz) of salmon, cooked and flaked (or low-sodium canned salmon in water)
  • 1 large sweet potato, cooked and mashed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup carrots, grated (optional)
  • A pinch of turmeric powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan by greasing it with a small amount of coconut oil or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. If using fresh salmon, bake it at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until it flakes easily, then remove any bones. For canned salmon, ensure it’s low in sodium and drained well.
  3. Cook the sweet potato until soft and mash it until smooth.
  4. Grate the carrots and chop the parsley, if using.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the flaked salmon, mashed sweet potato, egg, oat flour, parsley, grated carrots, and turmeric (if using) until all ingredients are well combined.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down to remove air pockets and smooth the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, until the meatloaf is firm to the touch and lightly golden.
  8. Allow the meatloaf to cool completely before slicing it into portions for your dog.

Notes

  • Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze portions for up to 2 months.
  • You can substitute oat flour with chickpea or coconut flour if desired.
  • To add more flavor, brush with homemade bone broth before serving.
  • Adjust portion sizes based on your dog’s size and dietary needs.
