Description

Spinach & Sweet Potato Bites for Dogs are a healthy, easy-to-make homemade treat packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Perfect for pups with sensitive stomachs, this recipe is made with simple, wholesome ingredients and can be customized with different add-ins.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium sweet potato, cooked and mashed
  • 1/2 cup chopped spinach (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 1 cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel, chop, and boil or steam the sweet potato until tender. Mash into a smooth puree and let cool.
  2. Wash and finely chop the spinach. If using frozen spinach, thaw and drain excess water before chopping.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the mashed sweet potato, spinach, oat flour, whisked egg, melted coconut oil, turmeric, and cinnamon until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough into small, 1-inch bite-sized balls.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Place the bites evenly on the baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving to your dog.
  8. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • If the dough is too sticky, add more oat flour (1 tablespoon at a time).
  • For a crunchier texture, bake for an additional 5-8 minutes.
  • For softer treats, reduce the baking time by 2-3 minutes.
  • These treats are best served in moderation based on your dog’s size.
  • Substitutions: Use coconut flour for a grain-free version or add shredded carrots or blueberries for extra nutrients.
