Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup cranberries (fresh or dried, unsweetened)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup sweet potato (optional, finely grated)
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated carrots (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, cranberries, egg, and oats. If using optional ingredients like sweet potato, flaxseed, carrots, or parsley, add them now.
- Mix the ingredients together until well combined, ensuring the mixture is moist but firm.
- Scoop out small portions and shape them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the burgers are cooked through and firm to the touch. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Allow the burgers to cool completely before serving them to your dog.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
- Ensure cranberries used are unsweetened to avoid added sugars that aren’t suitable for dogs.
- The mixture can be customized with additional ingredients like pumpkin puree or spinach for added nutrients.
- For smaller dogs, consider making mini burgers to match their size.
- Use a meat thermometer to confirm the burgers have reached an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
