Description
A homemade Turkey & Cranberry Dog Chews recipe that’s festive, healthy, and easy to make. Perfect for including your dog in holiday celebrations with nutritious ingredients like lean turkey and antioxidant-rich cranberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey (lean or extra lean)
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries (unsweetened, no added sugar)
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional, for added fiber)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, dried cranberries, oats (if using), and the egg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Add a tablespoon of coconut oil if the mixture feels dry or if you want extra moisture for your dog’s coat health.
- Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, pressing it down to an even thickness of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the chews are firm and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let the chews cool completely before cutting them into strips or bite-sized pieces.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
Notes
- Use unsweetened cranberries without added sugar, as sweetened varieties are harmful to dogs.
- Adjust the size of the chews depending on your dog’s size.
- Consider dehydrating the chews after baking for a longer-lasting, chewier texture.
- These treats should be given in moderation.
